Some experiences forever change the very foundations of how we understand ourselves and the world. In this intimate conversation we'll explore NOTEs (non-ordinary transcendent experiences)--such as near-death experiences, spiritual awakening, religious experience, revelation, and more--that often challenge what we believe. Such experiences can be particularly challenging for those who follow a faith path. Stories from Nicole's doctoral research into the aftereffects of life-changing NOTEs and personality will be shared.
Being close to Halloween, the Cafe's October talk is especially reserved for discussions around death and dying. This event will have a special focus on near-death experiences and other experiences around the "thinning of the veils".
About the Cafe Of Dangerous Ideas:
The Café of Dangerous Ideas meets on the last Friday of each month at the Sycamore Tree (185 Burgundy Street) with STREAT coffee and tea available for sale, as well as light refreshments. The Café is designed to discuss ideas that take a questioning faith seriously. We usually have a 20-30 minute presentation from a speaker and then open the evening up for discussion. You are invited to attend any or some evenings – depending on your interest in the subject matter. We emphasise a safe space to discuss the ideas of the evening, which allows for questioning and discussion and treats everyone as a valued contributor.
No booking required. Bring a buddy and let's make it an awesome night.
